I Want to be With People Who Submerge

08/04/2010

I want to be with people who submerge
In the task, who go into the fields to harvest
And work in a row and pass the bags along,
Who are not parlor generals and field deserters
But move in a common rhythm.

Poem by Marge Piercy. Born in Detroit in 1936, Marge became one of the early proponents of feminist issues,  social and environmental concerns.

Most artists submerge…

I created two digital artworks to explore this topic from underwater photos by my friend and artist Tammi Latham...she is an amazing creator and underwater photographer and always inspires me…my salute to her artistic genius…i could not decide which I liked best, so I used both…tell me which you think speaks to the topic best!!

I think the photo on the right depicts the theme the best, as it’s a person underwater, which is not natural. The photo on the left is natural as you’d expect to find coral and fish under the water. Good stuff.

Rebecca,
I love both pieces of digital art, and can’t decide which one I like better. I would simply choose to put one in one room, and the other in another room, and enjoy them both. :)
