How to Paint a Tree Silhouette Mural

Be courageous…try this in your child’s room. They will love it and it’s easy to do!! Painting a silhouette of a tree is pretty easy to accomplish. One trick is to project a tree onto the wall with an overhead projector (you can rent them).
- Outline the shape with a watercolor pencil in the color you intend to paint the tree (it will blend into your tree)…a graphite pencil will not blend in and it will bleed through any paint you put on top forever!!!
- Then paint between the lines, color book painting, in the color you want. Use a good washable paint.
- HINT: If you paint the walls with flat or matte paint and then do the tree in satin…it adds another dimension to the mural.
- ANOTHER HINT: Be adventurous with color…dark or vibrant colors to light pastel colors.
- LAST HINT: Practice a few pieces of poster board first before attempting the actual mural on the wall.
