DIY Project My Studio Makeover ~ Feeling Groovy Part 2

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

I {HEART} Glidden’s Brilliance Collection 2-in-1 paint and primer from Walmart. I had some dark and decorative painted (faux finished) wall to cover. I was especially worried about covering this mural…

I chose Sunbeam…a bright and cheerful yellow to cover three walls…it did take two coats, but that is way less than I expected as you sometimes have a problem going lighter on a wall!!! I was pleasantly surprised!!!

As you see here the mural is gone and the walls are happy. I painted the fourth wall Granny Smith Apple green…a luscious color indeed!!! I have very special plans for this wall…so stay tuned for part 3 of the makeover… so here we go a painting…

Part 2~Painting the Walls

I love to share tips and tricks about painting with my readers. This Makeover is full of them because I am feeling groovy. I hope you enjoy them and they will make your painting times more fun!!!

Tip for Keeping the Paint in the Can

Here is a little video to show you how I keep from getting the can so messy when painting…it is a trick my daddy taught me long ago and it has served me well over the years.

So here is the rest of the room:

the corners are very important to get right...

i always paint the outlet covers to match the room...

How to Paint Outlet Covers:

First, I clean the outlet and switch covers well and let them dry. I then spray them with a good primer (I use BIN).

I allow the primer to dry according to directions and then roll the plates with the roller I use to paint the wall. Simple and it makes the room look so finished!!!

The Glidden website has tools to help you experiment with different options so you can find the perfect look.
Glidden Paint Colors – The Color Palettes The Glidden paint palette is very simple. The choices are grouped in families of colors. So whether you are painting a room for the first time or re-painting, you should definitely check Glidden out.

Right now you can get $2 off Glidden Testers by printing a coupon here. Pick some up and test them on your walls…it will be fun!!!

Stay tuned for the decorative painting in Part 3…
