Twas the night before Black Friday and all through the house
I could feel a change coming so I gathered my spouse
And headed toward my Kmart with care,
In hopes St Nicks’ decor elves had been there.

The turkey was done, all had been fed,
While visions of silvered blues danced in my head.
And hubby in his polo and I in my cap,
There was shopping to do, no time for a nap.

When out on the street there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the car to see what was the matter.
Away to the Kmart I flew like a flash,
I had things to collect for my holiday bash.

The lights on the rows of new holiday decor
Gave the lustre of midnight to objects galore.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But an aisle of loot called Midnight Clear.

Now be still my heart on Dancer now, Prancer!
Onward and onward I searched for an answer!
From the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now decorate, decorate, decorate all!”

And then, in a twinkling, I heard hubby say
We need this firepit to light the way.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
The firepit came into the cart with a bound.

Oh the lights-how they twinkled! her shape how merry!
The snow at her feet, like the wings of a fairy!
I can see the tree top tied up with bows,
And the limbs adorned so their loveliness shows.

I sprang to my van, to my team gave a whistle,
And away we all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I had to exclaim, ‘ere we drove out of sight,
“Come back soon and see how I make the house bright!”
